Victoria (Seun) Tuyo, Registered Psychotherapist
B.Eng, MSc., Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology
Welcome! I’m Victoria, a therapist at Creative Transitions Psychotherapy. I am a second career professional as I have spent the last decade working in the corporate world. I have also lived in Africa, Europe and North America. Given my professional and personal experiences, I'm familiar with cultural and career transitions. I have experienced common challenges peculiar to changing careers, such as fear of uncertainties and lack of confidence and direction. I have also experienced many life stressors that immigrants and multicultural groups face, such as acculturation, discrimination, stigmatization and racism. These experiences have given me a deeper understanding of the intersectional barriers and mental health challenges people from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds experience. I have a greater appreciation of our unique cultures and individual experiences.
Going through life transitions and changes in circumstances sometimes come with unexpected
twists and turns that leave us feeling anxious, stuck, depressed and/or overwhelmed. In these
moments, we feel confused and demotivated, alone with our thoughts, feelings and emotions. I
am here to create a warm, safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space to help you to feel
heard, understood and respected. I would be pleased to work with you to create change and
overcome what is in your way, whether it’s an emotional pattern learned earlier in life, a way of
thinking or behaving, or systemic issues holding you back from the life you want.
I am a direct and genuine person who will listen with great care and attend to blind spots to help
determine what obstacles may need to be tackled to achieve your goals. I will challenge you
when you need to think, act and see things differently. We will work collaboratively to
understand what is going on for you, set goals, and track progress. I use different therapeutic
modalities, including Cognitive and Behavioural Theory or Solution-Focused and Emotional
focused approaches with respect for diversity. My priority is to build a trusting relationship with
you and empower you with the tools and strategies you need to bring positive change.
My recent academic training is from Yorkville University, where I am finished a
Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I am a student member of the Canadian Counselling
and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I was previously trained in higher education in
Engineering and work professionally as a market research professional. My passion for working
with individuals who may be struggling with mental health issues, managing relationships or
navigating their day-to-day lives has fueled the direction to begin my career as a therapist. As a member of CRPO in the Qualifying category I am supervised from time to time via consultation with the Clinic Director under whom I trained as well as other qualified supervisors.
I am accepting new clients for online counselling and would love to learn more about you! If you think we would be a good match, please reach out by messaging the clinic director at
[email protected] or contact below.
