Elissa McGillvray, Psychotherapy Associate
M.A., MACP, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Welcome! I’m Elissa, a therapist at Creative Transitions Psychotherapy, with a Masters' degree in Counselling. I’ve come to this career after years in the art world and later as a marketing and communications professional. I have lived and traveled abroad and completed a Master's in Art History in the Netherlands. I understand transitions and the challenges of adjusting to new environments and life events.
I have adolescent children and grew up in a family involved in elite sports and can help support parenting challenges including those associated with learning struggles such as ADHD. I am a great listener and a genuine, caring person. I create a safe, non-judgmental space to hear and understand your unique situation and work through obstacles that may be holding you back and support you to make the change you want to see in your life. Whether it's an exploration of the past, grounding in the present, a focus on the future, or a combination of all three, I will meet you where you are and help guide you to where you want to be.
I employ multiple therapeutic modalities depending on your needs; these include evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural, Solution-Focused and Emotion Focused approaches, with an inclusive, culturally respectful stance. Working collaboratively, we will define your goals and expectations and track your progress and achievements. I am an active and caring listener that will challenge you to see patterns in your thinking, behavior or feelings, to understand the root but also to help you grow.
My academic training is from Yorkville University, where I am earned a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I am supervised by a a Clinical Supervisor from time to time consulting on cases as a member of the CRPO in the Qualifying Category. I am currently accepting new clients and would love to learn more about you! Finding the right fit is important and I encourage you to set up a free consultation to see if we’re a good match. Please reach out by messaging the clinic director shirleykatzy@gmail.com, or book a time with me here.
