Elissa McGillivray, Psychotherapy Associate
M.A., MACP, Registered Psychotherapist
Welcome! I’m Elissa, a therapist at Creative Transitions Psychotherapy, with a Masters' degree in Counselling. My journey began in the arts, where I immersed myself in various forms of expression and learned the importance of storytelling in connecting with others. This experience ignited a deep appreciation for the nuances of emotion and the power of personal narratives.
Transitioning into the realm of marketing and communications, I honed my skills in storytelling and relationship building. This experience not only sharpened my strategic thinking but also reinforced my desire to make a meaningful impact on individuals' lives. Throughout my career, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of communication—not just in conveying messages, but in fostering genuine connections and nurturing personal growth.
Driven by a passion for psychology, I sought to integrate my background with my desire to help others navigate their journeys. My path has led me to Psychotherapy, where I am excited to apply my diverse experiences to support individuals in their pursuit of self-understanding and resilience. I believe that every person has an innate capacity for growth, and it is my privilege to accompany them on this profound journey toward healing and self-actualization.
I believe in meeting people where there are and employ multiple therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural, Psychodynamic, Mindfulness, and Emotion Focused approaches, with an inclusive, culturally respectful stance. Working collaboratively, we will define your goals and expectations and track your progress and achievements. I am an active and attuned listener who will challenge you to see patterns in your thinking and behaviour and explore the feelings and beliefs at the root of your experience, to facilitate growth and change.
Finding the right fit is important and I encourage you to set up a free consultation to see if we’re a good match. Please reach out by messaging the clinic director [email protected], or book a time with me here. To see a sample of some of my ongoing training, scroll down:
