The past influences everything and dictates nothing. — Adam Phillips |
People come to therapy for many reasons: you may be feeling anxious, uncertain, depressed, or fed up with your own self-defeating actions. You may be living with a vague sense of unease, unsure of its source or rationale. Among other things, talking to someone can help you pay better attention to the ways you feel and talk about yourself—how you cut off certain possibilities prematurely, or how you repeat the same tired ideas. One of the chief aims of working together can be to discover how to better parse your desires from others’ expectations of you.

I am beginning my career as a therapist after a decade of working in theatre and television. During this time, I lived in Montreal, Berlin, and New York, touring my own plays, and helping others usher their works to the stage and screen. In this new vocation my abiding interest remains much the same: working with others to understand the stories we tell and how those stories shape our reality. By providing a safe environment for you to speak freely, we will work to understand the fullness of your idiosyncrasies and individuality. I believe that it is only after we learn to be compassionate towards and curious about ourselves, that we can better enjoy the company of others.
I am currently enrolled as an MA candidate in counselling psychology at Yorkville University. I hold a BA with honours from McGill and a Master of Fine Arts from the City University of New York (where I also taught as an adjunct professor of playwriting). Further training includes the Fundamentals Program at the Toronto Institute of Psychoanalysis, and crisis counselling and solutions-focused therapy from the Distress Centres of Greater Toronto. I use an anti-oppressive framework and am welcoming to the LGBTQIA+ community.
