Services
Organizational Consultation: Service-oriented businesses require motivated and engaged, healthy and happy employees. I help with customer service evaluation and reporting, enhancement of motivation and engagement, career transition support and management consultation. I take a "fourth generation" or "humanist" approach which considers all players as stakeholders and hence work respectfully to communicate with all levels of an organization to help improve both operations and individuals' lives. Packages can be tailed to your budget. Please call for consutation.
Individual or Relationship Counselling: I help individuals, couples, and families towards meaningful life, career and relationship change. Clients are seen weekly for anywhere between (on average) 6 to 20 sessions depending on needs. Clients in crisis may require more frequent sessions. Clients who are new to psychotherapy may want to read through the philosophical approach page to help them get ready for the first appointment. Many people need time before they are ready for therapy. Please feel free to join my facebook page where I share tidbits of info a few times a week and you can get a sense of how I can help you.
Phone/Internet Consulting: Phone services are offered to out of town clients. Sessions are billed electronically, phone sessions are paid in advance through paypal and conducted on skype. Please call to inquire and set up a phone appointment.
Consultation: Professional opinions require time and involve responsibility and liability. I believe it takes time to get to know a person and their unique situation before any helpful opinion or advice can be offered. I am not able to offer extensive time for free in person or over the phone. If you are uncertain about whether these services would be suitable or whether you are ready for counselling, please spend more time reading this site. Please do not call to inquire about someone you want to send to my services as I will not be able to discuss their case with you unless they are a client and the client has requested and consented to the discussion. It is best to ask the person to book an appointment. If you are inquiring about services for a child who is not mature enough to consent to their own treatment, please set up a phone consult. If you just want to chat for a few minutes, please book a phone consult appointment (see phone counselling above) or chat with me when I am online, charged by the minute. Unfortunately, detailed personal emails will not be responded to with advice or suggestions as they are attended to by an assistant.
Career Counselling: Please note that career counselling clients are often recommended homework to complete outside of session time. Thus they should be prepared to dedicate time and energy for these tasks to maximize the benefits of their counselling experience. At times, testing instruments and books may be recommended and charged to the client with client permission. Career counselling is typically short-term. Session fees are the same as for other counselling clients.
Groups and Workshops: Custom designed content and fees. Please inquire or see below for examples.
Legal and medical assessments: These kinds of cases are best dealt with by clinical psychologists who specialize in assessment. Please visit the website for the Ontario Psychological Association for such a specialist referral. If you are looking for emotional support while dealing with a legal or medical issue, I am happy to provide counsellng services.
Fees
Session Fees: Clients with insurance are billed a rate within industry standards. My current session fee is significantly below the average rate for a Ph.D. level practitioner. Please inquire. It is preferable to pay for the session before it begins to get payment out of the way.
Insurance: Most insurance plans will cover my services as insured client cases are supervised by a Registered Psychologist. Please check your individual plan to determine what your coverage is. You will have to pay for services and request reimbursement. My services may be covered by your extended health benefits.
Sliding Scale Requests: As my services are private, I am not able to subsidize clients by offering a sliding scale. I am happy to offer referrals to community services. At times I am able to offer a slight reduction in fees to clients who demonstrate financial need, who feel they would benefit from my services.
Supervision
Supervision for M.A. level practicum students in counselling is available. Please call for more information, 647-244-3050. Note that my services rendered to clients with insurance are supervised by a Registered Psychologist.
