EATING DISORDER LINKS
Something Fishy is a popular site dedicated to raising awareness about eating disorders that emphasizes that eating disorders are not about food and weight, but about something deeper going on. They offer many links to other sites for information and support.
The National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) is a Canadian, non-profit organization that provides information and resources on eating disorders and weight preoccupation with a good resource library where you can get information, books, maganizes, articles, etc. Additional links are offered.
The Eating Disorder Resource Centre of BC is a non-profit organization that educational, referral and research services to the public and private sector related to eating disorders. Their site lists links to healthcare-care based treatment for eating disorders and they offer a phone-in service for free referrals
to counsellors in BC.
National Eating Disorders Association is an American organization that aims to aid in the elimination of eating disorders by providing information and resources to people suffering from disordered eating and to their friends and families. They also provide information and resources to treatment providers and researchers. Their site includes a list of referral sources in the U.S. an Canada.
Mirasol Eating Disorder Recovery Centers, Tucson, Arizona. This centre in Tucson Arizona that takes an integrative approach to the treatment of eating disorders drawing from traditional practices as well as alternative and creative/expressive methods to help individuals recover. They also focus on helping their clients develop and strengthen their own unique identity. Their newsletter provides useful information including tips for parents and their site offers learning resources. Also visit their site mirasolteen.com for valuable information.
ARTIST WELLNESS LINKS
Arts and Healing Network is "an on-line resource celebrating the connection between art and healing. Our web site serves as an international resource for anyone interested in the healing potential of art". This site also provides links to other art and healing organizations and a list of books and videos related to art and healing.
The Artists' Health Centre Foundation in Toronto provides outreach, education, prevention, seminars/workshops and subsidies for alternative/complementary therapies to raise the standard of care and quality of life for artists.
